Volunteer
Everyone in this life has something to give, something to share and someone to bless. Have you ever wondered how you (that people feel you are too young to offer something tangible in life) can make a big (huge) difference in someone’s life that would mean “heaven has come down for me today” for that person? Do you find yourself drawn to going all the way just to make one good impression for someone regardless of who that person is? Do you believe in yourself so much as to use every part of you to be a blessing to someone in your neighbourhood, school, church, mosque, town, state or country at large? Even when you think less of yourself and feel you are, you can and are needed to put a smile on a face today!
Visions for Nigeria Foundation is waiting for you. Yes you. What is this? You may ask; Visions for Nigeria Foundation is a volunteer Non – Governmental Organisation with a mission geared towards making Nigeria a kinder, gentler nation. It’s strength lies in the VOLUNTEERS (you); and you are the shortest distance between disaster and help. VNF are good citizens whose minds are set on doing good, using their time, skills and resources for the benefit of the community and society at large. The people that volunteer are from all walks of life: students, lawyers, doctors, tailors, farmers, governors, corpers, children, adults, the rich, the weak, the strong, etc.
VNF is a member of the Nigerian Network of NGOs and organisations as a way of achieving the Millenium Developmental Goals (MDGs) in Nigeria.
For each local project we
co-opt an indigene of the community and make him the programme
co-ordinator. We use the media and activities such as the
International Volunteer Day (IVD) to raise awareness of volunteer
programmes and bring them to the attention of potential candidates.
International Volunteer Day was initiated in 1971 by the United
Nations and is celebrated every 5th of December to recognize the
“invaluable contributions” of volunteers in facing challenges
ranging from natural disasters to “silent” crises such as poverty
and disease.
During natural disasters, ordinary people rise to extraordinary
challenges – they are volunteers. Volunteers are needed in order to
fight extreme poverty and lack of healthcare facilities and social
services to achieve the Millenium Development Goals by 2015.
Visions for Nigeria recognizes and harnesses the full potential of
volunteerism for development in Nigeria.
Volunteering is done by choice, without monetary reward, and for the
benefit of the community.
Visions for Nigeria volunteers donate their time, skills and/or
resources for the benefit of the community or the society at large.
Our business is to raise enough volunteers to help carry out Visions
for Nigeria’s aims and goals. Chances are that the fact that you are
reading this now, makes you a potential Visions for Nigeria
volunteer.
Our volunteers know the difference between “3.15pm and 45minutes to
4pm”. They are the shortest distance between disaster and help.
You have a lot you can do and you have
what it takes. Come and be a volunteer today, VNF is waiting for
you.
