Skill Acquisition
Visions for Nigeria Foundation is a volunteer Non Governmental Organization. Our mission statement is to make Nigeria a kinder, gentler nation. In Nigeria, we have over two hundred and fifty tribes and languages spread within the thirty six states and the Federal Capital Territory. We only have one thing in common….Nigeria; not the tribes, cultures, religions, languages, states or even politics, that are often used to divide us. We should strive to use our differences to build a kinder, gentler Nigeria. We believe we can achieve this through our volunteers, having seminars and raising awareness for Nigerians to respect and love one another in the spirit of brotherliness that was common place in the Nigeria of old.
Volunteers are the shortest distance between
disaster and help, as we usually say. To make Nigeria a kinder,
gentler nation, we must attempt to make a volunteer of every
Nigerian and create the consciousness in them to always stop, listen
and hear the cry of their neighbours. We empower our volunteers to
care for one another for the advancement and development of our
common good. We teach them to create time for people around, to
listen to them, appreciate when they are in need and help if they
can. Put a smile one someone’s face… touch their lives!
We organize seminars on morals and integrity packaged and presented
in an enticing way. Our seminars will be presented to people of all
levels of education and all walks of life in very different ways and
different captions. It will help create the consciousness of doing
right because your neighbour is watching.
Eradicating extreme poverty will reduce drastically the crime rate
in Nigeria. We confess that eradicating extreme poverty wont be easy
in a country like Nigeria, but the truth is that poverty drives
people into prostitution, drug trafficking and other crimes. In most
cases, youths are mainly involved. Most Nigerian youths are either
unemployed or underemployed. Certain employment and skill
acquisition opportunities will help solve this problem. Youths
acquiring some skills like carpentry and farming are decreasing
geometrically. Unskilled/uneducated youths can be encouraged to
learn such skills.
