government efforts by providing services that are
not available from the government and are
beyond the means of the individual citizens
and communities.

Volunteering

Volunteer action was at the heart of the concept of
Visions for Nigeria Foundation when it was founded
in 2001. Volunteering is an activity that is motivated
by the free will of the person volunteering, and not by the desire for material or financial gain or
by external, social, economic or political pressure. It is intended to benefit vulnerable people
and their communities. A volunteer with Visions foe Nigeria is a person who carries our volunteering
activities for Visions for Nigeria occasionally or regularly. Volunteering is done by choice, without
monetary reward, and for the benefit of the community.

Functions of a Volunteer

Volunteers carry out tasks directly of indirectly help vulnerable people. Each volunteer programme requires different skills to make the programme effective. Our volunteer involvement communities are based on these essential values:

Working with communities
Ensuring the right of communities to participate in their development
Empowering communities to build their capacity to cope with the challenges of vulnerability and its root cause.
Working with partners to ensure sustainable community development
Invite everyone to volunteer
Ensure that the volunteers reflect the diversity of the society
Encourage volunteers to use their rights to be involved in decisions making at all levels.
Regularly acknowledge and recognize volunteer contributions

Our Background

“Nigeria shall be great again” was at the heart of our concept when Visions for Nigeria Foundation was birthed in August 2001 in far away Istanbul, Turkey as “Visions Nigeriana”. It Registered and Commenced Operations in Nigeria in July 2004. Visions for Nigeria Foundation (a Nigeria development charity) is a non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization that works through volunteers for the benefit of the people of Nigeria to restore them the right to a sense of self worth, and a life of hope, health and happiness by promoting volunteerism to fight poverty, educate, promote healthy communities and help eliminate the stigma of illnesses. Most of our work is centered on achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This is aimed at familiarizing you with our Organization, WHAT we do, WHY and WHERE we exist and HOW we carry out our mission.
